Chamber Orchestra Workshop 2024
From August 19th to 27th 2024, the Accademia Vicino di Accumoli will be held in the format of a 20-piece chamber orchestra.
Austrian conductor Johannes Wildner will once again be the artistic director of this summer academy. Wildner, a former member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and professor emeritus of orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, is recognised as a guarantor of an authentic approach to Austrian music from the classical period to the present day. He imparts his knowledge in conducting courses worldwide and also teaches the historical and emotional foundations for a stylistically confident interpretation of the masterpieces of Viennese classical music.
Through concerts, public workshops and musical interventions, the timeless significance of the music of an epoch that made a profound cultural contribution to social development will be demonstrated.
The following repertoire forms the basis for this year's music academy. Concert programs will be developed from this:
W. A. Mozart (1756-1791) - Eine kleine Nachtmusik ("Serenade No.13") in G major, K 525
J. Brahms (1833-1897) - String Sextet No.1 in B major, Op. 18
P. I. Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) - String Sextet in D minor ("Souvenir de Florence"), Op.70
The programme also includes specialist lectures on the reconstruction process, a tour of the Red Zone, programmes on local culture and history, tastings and celebrations with the local population. The programme also includes musical interactions with the local band.
Public events include a concert in Piazza San Benedetto in Norcia, a musical interaction with the Accumoli band, musical accompaniment to the commemoration of the anniversary of the earthquake and a memorial concert.
